About Mary Woods

Mary is a Licensed Registered Nurse and a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor who holds a Master’s Degree in Human Services; she has 40 years’ experience in substance abuse services and community mental health programs.

Mary received her nursing diploma from St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in Elmira, NY, her bachelor’s degree in Psychology/Sociology from New England College in Henniker, NH, and her Master’s Degree in Human Service Administration from Springfield College in Springfield, MA.

Mary is co-founder of WestBridge, a not-for-profit organization providing private community-based and residential treatment for individuals and families who experience co-occurring psychotic and/or affective illness and substance use disorders. She served as CEO from inception until she retired in 2018. Mary is currently consulting with organizations to provide program development, education and organizational supervision. She was President-Elect for NAADAC from 2002-2004, President from 2004-2006 and Past President from 2006-2010. And, Mary is currently the Chairperson of the Awards Committee.

Mary has lectured to community organizations and associations to increase community awareness of alcohol and substance abuse issues and dual disorders treatment. She contributed to the development of the Integrated Dual Disorders Treatment Practitioners and Clinical Supervisors workbook and the Practice Demonstration video. Mary has taught at the University of New Hampshire in the Social Work Department.
